Two Cheshire based computer companies have reached an amicable agreement on using the brand name Fabric. Delta Comtech Limited which trades as Fabric IT has agreed to purchase the Fabric trademark and domain name fabric.co.uk from Fabric Digital Limited for an undisclosed sum.
Delta Comtech provides IT support services whereas Fabric Digital provides web design and digital development services. Delta Comtech’s Sales Director, Carl Enser, explained that Delta Comtech rebranded two years ago to Fabric IT and at that time, as the two companies operated in different fields, there wasn’t an issue. However more recently there appears to have been confusion between the two companies, especially as they are both based in Macclesfield.
“We love the name as it describes our business perfectly in the context of the Fabric of the Internet, explained Mr Enser. “When the opportunity came up to buy the Fabric Trademark and domain name we jumped at the chance and we’re pleased that we’ve managed to secure a deal.”
Fabric Digital will still provide the same web design and web development services but will re-brand to a new name. Managing Director, Ajay Kapadia, explained that he purchased the domain name fabric.co.uk in the 1990s when he was involved in the textile business. “After moving into the IT sector in 2010, we were looking to re-brand and we thought Fabric would work well being based in Manchester as well our own textile past. He continued, “Selling the name is a wrench, but we think the time is right to move on.”
